Week 11 Extra Reading

This week for extra reading, I read the Pacific Northwest unit. As this was my fourth unit to read in the Native American section, I have started noticing quite a pattern in the ways they are written. Every single unit I read had multiple stories about creation, typically by coyotes or eagles. These were interesting to read because none of them made a whole lot of sense to me. They weren't logical stories. Most of these stories don't seem like they could possibly be real. Which leads me to wonder if anyone believes these mythological stories or if the people that hear them all understand that they are just tales. While I have gotten to read a lot of mythology and folklore by this point in the semester, I don't understand where these stories come from or how they are passed down.
